Why Buy a Watch From an Authorized Canadian Dealer?

Buying a watch online has never been easier. But where you buy your watch can be just as important as the watch you choose.

Between marketplaces, grey-market sellers and overseas websites, the same watch can appear at very different prices. Before choosing on price alone, it helps to understand what comes with buying from an authorized Canadian dealer.

Authentic watches from official distribution

An authorized dealer receives its watches through the brand's approved distribution network.

At Golden Gate Jewellery, the brands we sell — Citizen, Bulova, Caravelle and Casio, including G-SHOCK — are sourced through official Canadian distribution. Every watch is sold as an authentic product with its original box, papers and a stamped warranty certificate from our store.

For customers buying a watch as a gift, a milestone piece or a long-term everyday watch, knowing exactly where it came from provides real peace of mind.

Manufacturer warranty

One of the biggest advantages of buying through an authorized dealer is warranty coverage.

Watches purchased from an authorized retailer are covered by the official manufacturer warranty under each brand's terms. For the brands we carry, that currently means:

• Citizen — 5 years
• Bulova — 3 years
• Caravelle — 3 years
• Casio and G-SHOCK — 1 year

Grey-market sellers may instead offer their own store warranty. That does not automatically mean a grey-market watch is counterfeit, but warranty support and service procedures can be very different if something goes wrong.

A real store you can contact

There is also value in knowing who is selling you the watch.

Golden Gate Watches is the watch side of Golden Gate Jewellery at 1700 Wilson Avenue in North York, Ontario. Our family jewellery business has served customers for around 30 years, and our own jewellers and watchmakers handle watch services and repairs in-house.

You can shop online while still having access to a physical retailer if you need help before or after your purchase.

Access to additional models

Not every watch has to be sitting in the showcase.

As an authorized retailer, we order directly from the manufacturers' Canadian distribution. Our online catalogue carries the full Canadian line-ups for the brands we sell, and watches that are not in stock at the store are ordered in for you — please allow 4–6 weeks for those.
